History

Daimotsu Station opened on 12 April 1905 with the original Hanshin Main Line in Amagasaki. The Dembō Line — later renamed the Nishi-Ōsaka Line in 1964 and the Hanshin Namba Line in 2009 — branched from here from 20 January 1924, and was elevated as a single track on 3 July 1977 and as a double track on 26 March 1978. Between July 2003 and December 2008 the Daimotsu–Amagasaki section was temporarily reduced to single track during the Amagasaki rebuilding works, returning to double track on 20 December 2008. The 2009 line renaming took effect on 20 March 2009 and station numbering HS-08 was introduced on 1 April 2014.

Notes

The name "Daimotsu" looks unusual but the locality already appears in Heike Monogatari, as well as in the Noh play Funa Benkei and the kabuki Yoshitsune Senbon Zakura, where it is rendered "Daimotsu-no-Ura" (大物浦).
