History
Rokkōmichi Station opened on 20 July 1934 on the Tōkaidō Main Line (today branded the JR Kobe Line) in Nada-ku, Kobe. Operation passed from JNR to West Japan Railway Company at privatisation on 1 April 1987. The Great Hanshin earthquake of 17 January 1995 destroyed the first floor of the station building — which had been rebuilt only a few years earlier — along with the elevated tracks, but restoration was completed by 1 April 1995. The station consists of two elevated island platforms; only the inner tracks are normally used, with the outer tracks reserved for passing limited expresses outside peak commuting hours. Station numbering JR-A58 was introduced in March 2018.
