History
Kōnoikeshinden Station opened on 21 April 1912 as a general (passenger and freight) station of the Imperial Railway Bureau's Sakuranomiya Line, between Suminodō and Tokuan in present-day Higashiōsaka. With the 1913 reclassification the line became the Katamachi Line. Freight handling ended on 1 February 1963 and the station was elevated above grade in 1970, with baggage handling discontinued on 1 October that year. JR West took over at privatisation on 1 April 1987, and the Gakkentoshi Line nickname was adopted on 13 March 1988. ICOCA service began on 1 November 2003, station number JR-H37 was assigned on 17 March 2018, and the station was reclassified as a JR West direct-managed staffed station with patrol coverage on 1 July 2025.
