History

Shuntokumichi Station opened on 30 December 1926 on the Osaka Electric Tramway Yagi Line (today's Kintetsu Osaka Line), between Fuse and Nagase. It passed to Kansai Express Railway in 1941 and to Kintetsu in 1944, then closed temporarily between June 1945 and March 1946 during the wartime austerity period. The station was elevated onto a viaduct in August 1976 as part of the Fuse-area grade-separation project. A new interchange with the JR West Osaka Higashi Line opened on 15 March 2008 when JR-Shuntokumichi Station began service immediately below the Kintetsu viaduct. The station became fully unstaffed on 10 November 2024.

Notes

Because the Shōwa era began on 25 December 1926, Shuntokumichi is one of only two Japanese stations to have opened during the seven-day Shōwa 1.
