History

Kyūhōjiguchi Station opened on 30 September 1925 as part of the Osaka Electric Tramway Yagi Line (now Kintetsu's Osaka Line), on the section between Nagase and Yao (now Kintetsu Yao). The station was reconfigured to opposed side platforms in 1930. Mergers in 1941 and 1944 brought it into Kansai Express Railway and then Kintetsu Railway respectively. On 21 January 1970 the station was elevated when the line was grade-separated to cross the Osaka Central Loop Road. PiTaPa service began on 1 April 2007. From 10 November 2024 the station has been unstaffed all day, managed remotely from Kintetsu Yao.

Notes

The station was lifted onto a viaduct on 21 January 1970 specifically to clear the new grade-separated crossing of the Osaka Central Loop Road.
