History
Suwanomori Station opened on 20 December 1907 as Kitahamadera Station on the Nankai Railway's Main Line between Minato and Hamadera-Kōen, and was renamed to its current name on 1 December 1908. It moved 0.1 mile toward Hamadera-Kōen on 10 June 1919, then passed via Kinki Nippon Railway (1944) to Nankai Electric Railway (1947). Station numbering NK14 was introduced on 1 April 2012. The Namba-bound station building, listed as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property and selected in the fourth Kinki Station Hundred Selection, ended service on 24 May 2019; in February 2020 it was relocated 25 m west by house-moving techniques and reopened in September 2020 as a community exchange space. The line is being elevated, with the Namba-bound track switched to a temporary line on 21 January 2023 and full grade-separation due by March 2028.
