History
Tochihara Station is a JR Central stop on the Kisei Main Line in Ōdai, Mie Prefecture, located 55.1 kilometres from Kameyama. It opened on 20 March 1923 as the temporary terminus of the Japanese Government Railways' Kisei East Line, and just six months later, on 25 September 1923, the line was extended to Kawazoe and the station became a through station. Freight was discontinued on 1 November 1972, and the station became unstaffed alongside the abolition of parcel handling on 21 December 1983. The line was renamed the Kisei Main Line on 15 July 1959, and the station passed to JR Central at privatisation on 1 April 1987. The wooden building was replaced in February 2000.
