History
Shiraichi Station is a JR West stop on the San'yō Main Line in Higashihiroshima, Hiroshima Prefecture, 263.9 kilometres from Kobe. It opened on 25 January 1895 on the San'yō Railway between Kawachi and Saijō. The line was nationalised on 1 December 1906, and the station building was rebuilt in April 1938. Freight ended on 1 September 1961 and parcels on 1 February 1984. The station passed to JR West at the privatisation of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987, opened a Midori no Madoguchi in March 1998, and gained an elevator-equipped footbridge on 14 January 2016. The Midori no Madoguchi closed on 30 April 2024 and on-site staffing ended the next day.

Notes
Although the station is named "Shiraichi", it actually sits in the Otani district of Takaya — the name was attached because the original station was funded by Shiraichi residents who put up the money for its construction.
