History

Tenjingawa Station opened on 13 March 2004 on the Sanyō Main Line between Mukainada and Hiroshima as a request station, with the 440-million-yen construction cost paid by Diamond City to coincide with the opening of the adjacent Diamond City Soleil shopping centre (now Aeon Mall Hiroshima Fuchū). The station was named for a nearby covered river; the name placed sixth in a public vote, but was selected over the top entry "Aki-Fuchū". ICOCA service began on 1 September 2007. The Midori-no-Madoguchi ticket office closed on 17 May 2020, replaced by a smart ticket machine the following day.

Notes
