History
Hitomaru Station opened on 7 December 1930 as an intermediate stop on the JGR Mine Line, extended west from Nagato-Furuichi to Agawa. The Mine Line segment was reclassified into the San'in Main Line on 24 February 1933. Freight ended on 1 March 1972, and the station became a simplified-consignment stop in 1986; JR West took over at the 1987 privatisation. Full destaffing took effect on 31 December 2014. The mansard-roofed wooden station building still stands. In November 2017 a row of red torii echoing nearby Motonosumi Shrine was erected in front of the station.
