History
Maezora Station opened on 11 March 2000 as a JR West stop on the San'yō Main Line between Miyajimaguchi and Ōnoura, serving the Maezora Housing Complex. The site has older railway history: a JNR signal box called Gamutsu Signal Box stood about 100 m towards Hiroshima from 21 August 1961 until December of the same year. A simplified ICOCA-compatible ticket gate was installed on 17 June 2007 and ICOCA went into service on 1 September 2007. The Midori no Madoguchi staffed ticket office closed on 30 November 2023, and on 1 September 2024 the station was de-staffed in favour of intercom-based remote support.
