History
Kuki opened on 12 January 1957 as the terminus of the Japanese National Railways Kisei East Line when the route was extended south from Owase. It served as the line end for just over a year, becoming a through station on 23 April 1958 when track was pushed on to Mikisato. On 15 July 1959 the Kisei East Line was absorbed into the Kisei Main Line on its full opening between Kameyama and Kii Wakayama. Freight handling ended on 1 April 1978, and the station was destaffed on 21 December 1983. The 1 April 1987 JNR privatisation placed the station under JR Central. It retains its original 1957 station building and is managed remotely from Owase.
