History
Komorie opened on 13 March 1988 as a JR Kyushu station on the Kagoshima Main Line. Although passenger service began only at the end of the Shōwa era, the site itself had been a freight pier between 1911 and the opening of the undersea Kanmon Tunnel in 1942, when the Kansen ferry route ran loaded freight cars across the Kanmon Strait from here to Shimonoseki. Automatic ticket gates were installed on 7 June 2000 and SUGOCA contactless ticketing started on 1 March 2009. The staffed Midori-no-Madoguchi closed on 11 March 2022, and the station was made fully unstaffed on 18 March 2023. The structure consists of two side platforms; the up-direction platform connects to the station building by a foot-crossing on the Moji side. The station code is JA30.

Notes
The San'yō Main Line's Kanmon undersea tunnel passes almost directly beneath the station before curving north-west to cross the Kanmon Strait.
