History
Shingū-Chūō Station opened on 13 March 2010 as an infill stop on JR Kyushu's Kagoshima Main Line, becoming the only JR station within Shingū Town and serving rapidly suburbanising residential developments on both sides of the line. The Midori no Madoguchi reservation counter and automatic gates are present from opening, with the station operated directly by JR Kyushu. On 1 April 2023 a rooftop solar installation atop the platform shelters began generating power. The layout is two opposing side platforms with an elevated station building; both eastern and western forecourts have been developed with elevators, up-direction escalators, and bus terminals.

Notes
The town symbol on the station name boards transferred to Shingū-Chūō from Chikuzen-Shingū Station (now Fukkōdai-mae) when the latter dropped the "Shingū" reference in 2008.
