History

Kitanada Station opened on 6 October 1935 as an intermediate stop when the then-Yosan Main Line was extended from Shimonada to Iyo-Nagahama, completing through traffic from Takamatsu to Iyo-Ōzu via the coast. The station was originally a passing point with island platforms serving two tracks. After the new inland Mukaibara-Uchiko line opened on 3 March 1986, the seaside track was removed, leaving a single side platform on a sidehill cut. With the privatisation of JNR on 1 April 1987 it passed to JR Shikoku, and on 1 June 1988 the parent line was renamed Yosan Line. It carries the number S11 and was rebranded under the "Ai-aru Iyonada-sen" sub-name on 15 March 2014.

Notes

The station platform straddles the boundary between Iyo and Ōzu cities — the boundary line runs through the middle of the platform, and an "Iyonada Monogatari" attendant-painted signboard now marks the spot.
