History
Japanese Government Railways' Railway Bureau opened Buzen-Nagasu Station on 22 April 1911 as an added stop along the existing Hōshū Main Line, in present-day Usa City, Ōita Prefecture. The line was renamed the Nippō Main Line on 15 December 1923. Freight handling ceased on 1 October 1961, parcels on 1 February 1984, and the station was unstaffed from 1 November 1984. JR Kyushu took over at JNR privatisation on 1 April 1987, and the original 1911-vintage wooden station building still survives as the waiting room. ICOCA-compatible SUGOCA card readers were added on 1 December 2012. A 17 March 2018 timetable change ended the calling of rapid trains.
