History

Edagawa Station opened on 1 November 1986 as a Japanese National Railways provisional unstaffed flag stop (rinji jōkō-jō) in Edagawa, Ino, Agawa District, Kōchi Prefecture. With the JNR breakup on 1 April 1987 it passed to JR Shikoku and was promoted to a full permanent station; the station number K06 is now assigned on the Dosan Line.

Edagawa is a small unstaffed station with only a basic platform and a short canopy, served by a single bidirectional track. About 200 metres away is the separate Tosaden Kōtsū Ino Line tram stop also called Edagawa, and the area around the station includes the Kōchi Prefectural Driver's Licence Centre, Kōchi Prefectural Ino Commercial High School, the Kōchi New Driver Academy, and the Ino Interchange.
