History
Mikunigaoka Station opened on 25 March 1992 on the Nishitetsu Tenjin Ōmuta Line in Ogōri, Fukuoka, to serve the surrounding Ogōri-Chikushino New Town. A 1939 Kyushu Railway route map already showed a planned but unnamed gap between Tsuko and Misawa, suggesting a station here had been envisaged long before construction. The two opposed ground-level side platforms are linked by an elevated station building, with an eight-car platform length. ICカード nimoca service began on 18 May 2008, and the station was upgraded to an express stop in the 24 March 2012 timetable revision following continued residential development around its east and west entrances.

Notes
In 2024 the station's nameplate was temporarily rewritten as "Hatsune Mikuni-ga-Oka Station" for the Magical Mirai concert tour, with announcements made in the voice of Hatsune Miku's voice provider Saki Fujita.
