History
Iyo-Iwaki Station opened on 20 June 1945 as one of three intermediate stations set up when the Yosan Main Line was extended westwards from Yawatahama to link with the Uwajima Line at Unomachi — the final stretch of the through-route from Takamatsu to Uwajima. The station was originally operated by Japanese Government Railways and then Japanese National Railways. Following the privatisation of JNR on 1 April 1987, control passed to JR Shikoku. The unstaffed station has two opposed side platforms serving a through-track and a passing loop, with a small station building linked to platform 1 functioning as a waiting room.
