History
Shin-Tosu Station opened on 12 March 2011 with the Kyushu Shinkansen's full opening between Hakata and Shin-Yatsushiro, becoming the only Shinkansen station within Saga Prefecture at the time. JR Kyushu first announced the station name on 17 December 2010, and the elevated Shinkansen platforms were paired with conventional Nagasaki Main Line platforms directly underneath as a requested station funded by Tosu City. The conventional ticket window closed on 31 March 2021 and the conventional side moved to JR Kyushu direct ticketing on 1 October 2023. The station is designed as the future junction point with the West Kyushu Shinkansen, though the connecting route remains undecided.

Notes
Until the West Kyushu Shinkansen opened in 2022, this was the only Shinkansen station in Saga Prefecture, and it remains the designated future junction point with that line.
